The Digital Tools Blog is a result of an Entrepreneurial journey that started in 2003.
Prior to that I use to be an employee. I worked for a company just over 3 years until I could not take it anymore. I believe. If you don’t move up in 3 years, move out. Life’s too short working a dead end job. I would rather take my chances as an Entrepreneur. So I set out to do just that.
I thought to myself that there must be a better way. Believe me when I say that the leap was a scary one. I was entering the world of Entrepreneurship and had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I just kept on thinking …

From 2003 – 2008. I was involved in the Bond Originating industry. We helped people secure Bonds for properties. As a value added service I also started doing bridging finance from 2006 – 2008. All went well. The business was growing year on year and I was under the impression I was on my way to the top. That was until the 2008 global financial crisis. People stopped taking out bonds and I had no one to borrow money to.
When the dust settled from the collapse, 5 trillion dollars in pension money, real estate value, 401k, savings, and bonds had disappeared. 8 million people lost their jobs, 6 million lost their homes and that was just in the USA.
I personally lost in a big way. 2 Businesses, 3 properties and a lot of cash, just to name a few. The first 6 years of my Entrepreneurial journey has had many ups and downs. Even though it sometimes leaves a bitter taste in my mouth when I think back to 2008 I try and think of it as an Investment. An investment into my Financial Education. School fees.
Make no mistake. I don’t blame the 2008 financial crisis for my failure. I blame myself for not planning properly. 2008 was my first recession and I was clearly not prepared.
2009 I was still busy absorbing the aftermath and in the process of planning my next move.
2010 Rebuilding. I started getting involved in the digital space. It was new and exciting to me. The online world was a buzz. 12 Months in a lot happened. I once again learned a lot, but was not making any real money. I also suffered from a case of information overload.
It then dawned on me that I was missing something somewhere. So I simply stepped back a few. I evaluated what happened and started thinning it out.
During this process I also started consulting in the digital marketing space. I helped companies develop strategies, create content, engage with their audiences and worked the analytics. The problem with this is that it’s very labor intensive and takes up a lot of my time. I was in a situation where I had to exchange time for money.
So I started looking into ways to leverage myself and create more time for myself to spend as I please. I then started moving my business online.
Fast forward to the present. I decided to play a more educational role and to start sharing my knowledge on the digital world we live in.
The Goal is to simplify and shorten the learning curve.
Think of the Digital Tools Blog as a one stop information source that focuses on Digital Tools you can use to Grow Your Business.

I don’t consider myself an online marketing guru, my techniques are not secrets and the kinds of things I teach are not “get rich quick” schemes – far from it actually.

Earning any type of income online takes a lot of hard work, a lot of patience and a little bit of luck too, although I honestly believe we create our own luck.
